Google has finally unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The new phones feature a number of updates, including new designs, new displays, an improved Tensor G3 chip, updated cameras, and a whole host of AI-enhanced features.
Design
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro feature a new design that is both familiar and refreshing. The phones still have the iconic metal and glass construction, but with a few key updates. The camera bar on the back of the phone is now more streamlined and integrated into the overall design. The front of the phone is also more sleek, with thinner bezels and a centered punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera.
Display
The Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 8 Pro has a larger 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1440p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both displays are bright and sharp, and the high refresh rate makes everything look and feel smooth and fluid.
Performance
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are powered by the new Tensor G3 chip, which is Google's own custom-designed processor. The Tensor G3 chip is designed to be more efficient and powerful than previous Pixel chips, and it enables a number of new AI-powered features, such as Magic Eraser and Real Tone.
Camera
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro feature new camera systems that are designed to take even better photos and videos than previous Pixel phones. The Pixel 8 has a new 50-megapixel main sensor and a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor. The Pixel 8 Pro has 50-megapixel main sensor and 48-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and it also has a new 48-megapixel telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom.
Both phones also have a new front-facing camera with a 10.5-megapixel sensor and autofocus. The autofocus feature is a first for Pixel phones, and it should make for better selfies and video calls.
AI Features
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro feature a number of new AI-enhanced features, including:
Magic Eraser: This feature allows you to remove unwanted objects from your photos with just a tap.
Real Tone: This feature ensures that skin tones are accurately represented in your photos.
Face Unblur: This feature sharpens blurry faces in your photos.
Cinematic Pan: This feature adds a cinematic look to your videos by automatically blurring the background.
Battery Life
The Pixel 8 has a 4,575mAh battery, while the Pixel 8 Pro has a 5,050mAh battery. Both batteries should provide all-day battery life for most users. However, if you are a heavy user, you may need to charge your phone more than once a day.
Overall
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are excellent smartphones with a lot to offer. They have great designs, beautiful displays, powerful performance, and some of the best cameras on any smartphone. If you are looking for a new flagship smartphone, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are definitely worth considering.
